Bonjour! I am Corinne Bourget. Founder of atelier HOTELMOTEL.

I am a woman entrepreneur, leather specialist, shoemaker, designer, teacher and I have a dog named Happy.

I specialize in leather and have been working in this industry since 2009. I have accumulated know-how and experience in various production warehouses in Montreal and France. I wanted to learn how to make shoes, but there are no more schools in Canada. Everything is focused on the design to send the production abroad. However, Canada was a very large manufacturer before the era of globalization and companies left one after the other in the 1980s.

Worried about this situation, I went to learn custom shoe making techniques in Melbourne, Australia, then followed some master classes at the Centre des Métiers du Cuir de Montreal with guest teachers from the London College of Fashion.

I started HOTELMOTEL in 2018 with the aim of preserving the know-how of shoe making in Montreal in an ethical and sustainable way. I handcraft unisex sneakers, sandals, boots and goods in my studio and politely invite you to disturb the fashion industry by wearing and using  accessories carefully handmade with tenderness and meticulousness following the values of the Slow Fashion movement.
