Shoemaking is a choreography

Shoemaking = Art

This is a bold statement, and we feel it can easily sound tacky but here’s our comparison between shoemaking and dance :

Shoemaking is a choreography.

There are over a hundred steps to execute with grace, precision, fluidity, passion, uniqueness, nerve and talent.

As a shoemaker, we are the designer and the maker, the choreographer and the dancer, the brain and the hand.  We need to understand the how, the why, the technicality of a shoe as we create a new style.

We have to repeatedly do the same sequences to do it perfectly every time.  If we miss something, the shoe won’t last or won’t be comfortable. If the dancers miss a step, they might hurt themselves or fall.  If the singer misses the key, we cringe.

We wanted to show the step by step of the making of a sneaker without being a diy craft project.

We are showing shoemaking as a performance.
